About this spot

This is Fukuchiyama City's leading summer festival, held in 2026 over two days: Friday, August 14, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and Tuesday, August 25, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM (the two days are not consecutive). On the first day, August 14, the venue is around Goryo Park (御霊公園) and Hirokoji-dori (広小路通り), while August 25 is held at Fukuchiyama Station North Exit Park (福知山駅北口公園). To the spirited chant of 《Dokkoise, Dokkoise》, local dance troupes and children fill the streets with dancing, and from daytime into evening the whole town is dyed in festival colors. As the finale of your historical stroll through Fukuchiyama's castle town, experience the excitement of a town-wide dance together with the family.

Tips

Traffic restrictions are put in place around the venue on the day, so using public transportation is recommended. Since it's held during the daytime, remember sun protection and hydration. With large crowds expected, it's reassuring to decide on a meeting spot beforehand in case you get separated.

Best time to visit

From the 2:00 PM start. The afternoon hours, when the most dance troupes come out, offer the most spectacle.
