This ancient shrine in the mountains of Shiroishi Town ranks among the most historically significant in the Hizen region. The long approach path surrounded by greenery and the moss-covered stone steps add charm to the setting. Even in summer, the cool air flows through the tree-covered grounds. Known as a venue for autumn foliage viewing, walking through the lush green trees of summer offers its own special appeal. The shrine grounds are quiet with few visitors, making it a perfect place to take a breather before the bustling festival. Located about 20 minutes by car from Omachi.

杵島郡大町町の大町町民グラウンドを舞台に開かれる、地域に根ざした夏の恒例行事「ふるさと大町納涼まつり」です。2026年は8月13日(木)の開催で、開場は17時、本番は18時から21時まで。広いグラウンドいっぱいに提灯が灯り、盆踊りの輪やステージの催しで会場全体が夏祭りの空気に包まれます。大きな都市の祭りとは違う、住民同士の距離が近いアットホームな雰囲気が魅力で、地元の子どもたちの浴衣姿や、久しぶりに顔を合わせる家族連れの姿があちこちで見られます。昼間に訪れた武雄や白石の名所とはまた違う、町の素朴な夏の一夜を締めくくりにふさわしい時間です。

Tips

会場は屋外のグラウンドのため、レジャーシートや携帯椅子があると観覧が快適です。夜は虫が出やすいので虫除け対策を。駐車場の台数には限りがあるため、早めの到着がおすすめです。荒天時の開催可否は町の広報や公式情報で確認しましょう。

The approach path has stone steps, so regular shoes are more comfortable than sandals. During summer, insects can be numerous, so insect repellent is recommended. The grounds are rich with nature and plentiful shade, making them ideal for rest.
