The Furusato Omachi Summer Festival (ふるさと大町納涼まつり) is a beloved annual summer event held at the Omachi Town Athletic Ground in Omachi Town, Kishima District. In 2026 it takes place on Thursday, August 13, with gates opening at 5:00 p.m. and the main event running from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Lanterns light up the wide athletic ground, and a bon dance circle and stage performances fill the entire venue with festival energy. Unlike festivals in big cities, its charm lies in the close, homey atmosphere among residents, local children in yukata and families reuniting after time apart can be seen throughout the grounds. Different in character from the famous sights of Takeo and Shiroishi visited earlier in the day, this simple summer evening in a small town makes for a fitting close to the course.
