Built in the Edo period by Taku domain lord Shigeari Taku, this Confucian sanctuary is designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan. Counted among Japan's three most renowned Confucian sanctuaries, its beautiful structure with vermillion pillars and green-glazed tiles stands elegantly against the quiet mountains. Throughout the grounds, stone monuments and materials inspired by Confucius's teachings are scattered about, creating a space where you can deeply appreciate the history of 'Taku, a town of learning.' Under the summer sun, gazing up at this solemn edifice fills you with a sense of uplift.

多久市北多久町一帯で開かれる「多久山笠」は、地域に受け継がれてきた勇壮な祭りです。2026年は8月15日(土)・16日(日)の2日間にわたって開催され、このコースでは初日である8月15日を主役に据えています。各日17時から22時まで、駅前ほか会場一帯に山笠が繰り出し、掛け声とともに練り歩く姿が夏の夜を彩ります。駅前ほか会場一帯には屋台も立ち並び、食べ歩きをしながら祭りの熱気を楽しめるのも魅力のひとつ。昼間に訪れた多久聖廟や西渓公園で学んだ多久の歴史と、夜の山笠の迫力をあわせて味わえる、1日の締めくくりにふさわしい時間です。
Tips
会場周辺は夜になると人出が増え、車両通行止めになる場合があります。公共交通機関や駅前の駐車場の利用が安心です。屋台での買い物には小銭があると便利です。小さな子ども連れは掛け声や太鼓の音の大きさに驚くことがあるので、様子を見ながら距離を調整しましょう。
