About this spot

An ancient temple known as the ancestral temple of the Kuki family, lords of the Mita domain. The grounds display graves of successive feudal lords in a row, allowing you to recall the history of Mita as a thriving castle town. The quiet grounds surrounded by trees offer a cool retreat even in summer, perfect for spending leisurely time before the busy festival. The dignified main hall and garden are also notable attractions.

Tips

Located within walking distance from JR Mita Station. Viewing and worship are basically free, but remember this is a quiet sacred place so please visit respectfully.

Best time to visit

Approximately 50 minutes required. Morning visits are recommended for a cooler, more peaceful experience.
