A museum displaying one of the world's largest collections of ammonite fossils excavated from the geological layers surrounding Mikasa. The interior, lined with fossils of various sizes, is a paradise for children who love dinosaurs and ancient creatures. The exhibitions about when Mikasa was on the ocean floor provide an excellent introduction to understanding the city's origins.

三笠市の夏を締めくくる「三笠北海盆おどり」の会場です。2026年は8月13日から15日までの3日間、中央公園を舞台に太鼓のリズムに合わせて盆踊りが繰り広げられます。炭鉱と鉄道の歴史を歩んできたまちならではの、地域の人々が集う温かい雰囲気が魅力です。博物館や鉄道村で三笠の歴史にふれた1日の締めくくりに、家族で踊りの輪に加わってみましょう。
Tips
会場周辺は夜になると人が集まるため、ベビーカーでの移動は通路の広い場所を選びましょう。夜は気温が下がることがあるので羽織ものがあると安心です。周辺の駐車場は台数に限りがあるため、早めの到着がおすすめです。
Tips
Fossil excavation experience events are sometimes held, so check the day's schedule in advance. The spacious interior is best explored in comfortable walking shoes. During summer, the cool interior provides a good place to rest.

Approximately 1 hour. Morning to early afternoon allows for relatively peaceful viewing.
