About this spot

This venerable temple once served as a center of learning for the Nichiren sect, drawing student monks from across the country, and its buildings, including a lecture hall designated a National Important Cultural Property, still remain today. Surrounded by cedar groves, the temple grounds are wrapped in stillness, with a cool air quite different from that of the town. It's a place where you can sense the long history of scholarship rooted in the Sosa area, perfect for a family detour.

Tips

The grounds are rich in nature, and some spots underfoot can be uneven, so comfortable walking shoes are recommended. There can be a lot of mosquitoes in summer, so it's reassuring to prepare insect repellent. Parking is limited.

About 1 hour. The shade is cool and comfortable from morning into midday.
