Pay respects at Ryoshi Temple, the central temple of the Buddhist culture 'Roku-go Man-san' of the Kunisaki Peninsula

About this spot

An ancient temple located on the hillside of Ryoshi Mountain in the center of the Kunisaki Peninsula, known as the central temple of Roku-go Man-san, a unique Buddhist culture that bloomed on the peninsula. Within the grounds spreads a landscape that evokes a long history, with nio guardian statues and moss-covered stone steps, and the quietness enveloped in deep green is comforting. A fitting starting point for a history tour of the region, where you can touch upon the culture of syncretic Shinto-Buddhism unique to the Kunisaki Peninsula. Even in summer, the grounds are shaded by trees, offering a comfortable environment for worship.
