Himeshima Bon Odori Dance Circles Throughout the Island
About this spot
The Himeshima Bon Odori festival, held over two days (August 14-15, 2026), uses the entire small island as its stage. Dance circles form at various bonfire areas (Bon-tsubo) throughout the island, including the Central Plaza (Ferry Plaza), with the entire island united in celebrating the summer night. The "Kitsune Dance" and other unique dances special to Himeshima are highlights, allowing you to experience traditions carefully passed down through generations. It's a quiet, heartwarming night of bon dancing unique to an island surrounded by the sea.
