Japan's first government temple, said to have been founded by Prince Shotoku in 593. The "Shitennoji style temple layout" with the five-story pagoda and golden hall aligned in a straight north-south line is considered one of Japan's oldest, evoking the weight of history spanning from the Asuka period. With spacious grounds and many points of interest, including the stone torii gate at the Western Gate said to be the entrance to Pure Land paradise, this is a spot in Osaka where you can spend a peaceful time.

天王寺公園のエントランスエリアとして整備された芝生広場「てんしば」で、2026年8月1日(土)・2日(日)に開催される夏祭りです。あべのハルカスを望む開放的な空間に出店やイベントが並び、都心にいながら夏祭りらしい賑わいを楽しめます。天王寺動物園や新世界にも近く、大阪の街の中心で気軽に立ち寄れる夏の風物詩として親しまれています。
Tips
会場は広い芝生広場なのでレジャーシートがあると快適です。夜は屋外の涼しさを感じられますが、日中の暑さが残ることもあるため飲み物は多めに。近隣の商業施設も利用できて便利です。
Tips
Within walking distance of Shitennoji-mae Yodoyagi Station on the Tanimachi Line. Admission is required to view the main hall. On summer days, there is little shade in the grounds, so it's reassuring to bring a hat or parasol.
Best time to visit
Approximately 45 minutes. Early afternoon hours are relatively uncrowded.
