The "Onpara Matsuri" held at Tsunakoshi Shrine, a minor shrine of Oomiwa Shrine, from July 30 (Thursday) to August 1 (Saturday), 2026. The first day, the 30th, opens at 4 PM with the eve festival, and this festival—carrying the meaning of summer purification—cleanses six months of spiritual impurity while praying for health and safety for the remaining half year, a cherished Miwa summer tradition. The following day, August 1st, features the main festival and ceremonies, with the grounds bustling with many worshippers.

Tips
Located near the first torii gate of Oomiwa Shrine, within walking distance of JR Miwa Station. The shrine grounds have little shade, so take heat precautions even at evening. Parking around the venue is limited, so public transportation is recommended.
Best time to visit
From 4:00 PM opening. From 5 PM onward as the sun sets, the glow of lanterns in the grounds becomes beautifully illuminated.
