About this spot
The warehouse district of Murata Town, which prospered during the Edo and Meiji periods from the safflower trade. Sturdy white-walled storehouses with black plaster line the streets, creating a unique atmosphere also known as the 'Kyoto of Michinoku.' This historic street, where safflower merchants once gathered, has been designated as an Important Traditional Building Preservation District, preserving the town's past prosperity. Small shops and galleries housed in converted warehouses dot the district, allowing you to explore the town's history while you walk.

蔵の町として知られる村田町の中心部、中央公民館の駐車場を会場に開かれる地域の盆踊り大会です。会場には地元の団体が出す屋台が並び、盆踊りの合間に軽食や飲み物を楽しみながら過ごせます。中央のやぐらを囲んで踊りの輪が広がり、子どもから大人まで町内の人たちが集まる、地域に根ざした温かい雰囲気の祭りです。歴史ある蔵の町並みのすぐそばで開かれるだけに、昼間に見た町の風景を思い出しながら夜のひとときを楽しめます。
Tips
駐車場が会場となるため、来場は徒歩や自転車がスムーズです。屋台は数に限りがあることもあるので、小腹が空いたら早めに立ち寄るのがおすすめです。夜は虫が多くなるので虫よけ対策をしておくと快適に過ごせます。
