The circle of dancers—a mix of inn guests and townspeople—is wrapped in an open and warm atmosphere unique to tourist destinations. The steam from hot springs and lantern light create a one-of-a-kind magical scene unique to this festival.

Vehicle traffic is restricted near the venue, so walking is safest. Costumes aren't required; you can enjoy just watching. However, participating deepens the sense of community. Bring a light layer as mountain nights can be cool.

Best time to visit

From 17:00 when lanterns are lit. The festival is most lively from 18:00 onwards when more costumed dancers appear.
