Held around Higashine City Hall from August 10 to 11, 2026, the Higashine Festival is Higashine's signature summer festival, centered on the Tanabata Lantern Procession held from 18:30 to 21:00 on the first day, the 10th, and the Dance Competition held from 17:00 to 21:30 on the second day, the 11th. On the 11th, the Mikoshi Clash! event also takes place from 18:40. The sight of a procession carrying countless lanterns winding through the town is fantastical, coloring Higashine's summer nights. The first day, visited in this course, is the night when the Tanabata Lantern Procession takes center stage.
