About this spot
Nakatsugawa-juku flourished as one of the 69 post stations on the Nakasendo Road, and old merchant houses with distinctive kura-zukuri architecture still remain. Walking through streets lined with latticed doors and white-walled buildings evokes the feeling of being a traveler in the Edo period. Established confectionery shops dot the area, making this a leisurely walking path where you can savor the unique atmosphere of the region.

苗木小学校のグラウンドを会場に、夜空に花火が打ち上がるあんどん祭りのクライマックスです。地域に根づいたまつりならではの、家族や地元の人たちが肩を並べて花火を見上げる温かい雰囲気が魅力です。昼間に歩いた苗木城跡や中津川宿の余韻を残しながら、夜空を彩る花火で一日を締めくくります。
Tips
花火が始まる前に会場周辺は混み合うため、早めに到着して場所を確保しておくと安心です。夜は虫が多いこともあるので虫よけがあると快適に過ごせます。荒天時の開催可否は最新情報で確認してください。
Tips
Travel by car from the Naogi Toyama History Museum. The town streets are mostly flat and easy to walk, but summer has little shade, so a hat is recommended.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour 15 minutes. As evening approaches, the sun becomes less intense and walking becomes more comfortable.
