About this spot

This observatory sits on high ground on Shiraishi Island, atop a 150-meter-high hill. From here you can take in a sweeping view of the Seto Inland Sea's beautiful scattering of islands large and small, and watch the sky's colors change at a relaxed pace as evening approaches. It's a good spot to visit during the cooler hours after swimming, and a popular viewpoint for family photos.

Tips

Some sections of the walking path are unpaved, so wear comfortable walking shoes. In the evening, the setting sun can make it hard to see your footing, so a visit while it's still bright is recommended.

Best time to visit

About 45 minutes. The evening light reflecting on the sea is especially recommended
