The Ichinoseki Summer Festival is a major summer event held every August around Omachi, the central downtown area of Ichinoseki City, with the whole community taking part. In 2026 it runs for three days, from August 7th to 9th, and from the evening of the opening day, a procession of floats and dancers parades through the streets, with the sound of drums and flutes echoing through the shopping district. This historic town, home to the World Heritage site of Hiraizumi, is wrapped in lively festival excitement only during this period, as locals and visitors come together to enjoy the summer night as one. There are also many activities for children, making it an atmosphere families can enjoy with ease.

Best time to visit

Starting at 5:00 PM. After 6:00 PM, once the sun has set and the lanterns are lit, it feels most like a true festival
