This station serves as the gateway to the Suribasawa district on the JR Ofunato Line, its old-fashioned, unassuming station building still supporting local daily life today. The relaxed atmosphere of the platform, typical of a local line, offers a sense of travel quite different from a station in the city. From in front of the station, it's a short walk to the Suribasawa Shopping Street and Yotsukado Shopping Street, the festival venue, making this the gateway to that day's festival heart.
