This is the gateway station to the Surisawa district served by the JR Ofunato Line, where the traditional, calm station building continues to support the community's daily life. The leisurely atmosphere of the platform, unique to local lines, evokes a sense of travel quite different from urban stations. From the station front, you can walk to Surisawa Shopping Street and Yotsu-Kado Shopping Street, which serve as the festival venues and mark the entrance to the center of today's festivities.

摺沢水晶あんどん祭りは、一関市大東町の摺沢駅前から摺沢商店街、四ツ角商店街にかけて開かれる、地域手作りの夏祭りです。2026年は8月13日から15日までの3日間開催され、地元の住民や子どもたちが作った水晶あんどんが商店街の軒先に並び、日が暮れると一斉に灯がともります。大きな花火や太鼓のような派手さはありませんが、小さな明かりが夜の通りを優しく照らす光景は、山里の夏の風物詩として地域に長く親しまれています。家族でゆっくり歩きながら、一つひとつのあんどんに込められた手作りの温もりを感じてみてください。

会場周辺の駐車スペースは限られるため、公共交通機関か少し離れた場所への駐車がおすすめです。夜は照明が控えめな箇所もあるので、足元に注意して歩きましょう。
