Overlook the townscape of Daito from a plateau park
About this spot
This park, developed on the grounds of a former castle ruins, is also cherished locally as a famous cherry blossom spot. In summer, lush greenery covers the trees, and from the elevated location you can overlook the rural scenery and mountain ranges of Daito Town. The walking paths offer plenty of shade, making it an ideal spot for families to relax and enjoy themselves while escaping the daytime heat.

摺沢水晶あんどん祭りは、一関市大東町の摺沢駅前から摺沢商店街、四ツ角商店街にかけて開かれる、地域手作りの夏祭りです。2026年は8月13日から15日までの3日間開催され、地元の住民や子どもたちが作った水晶あんどんが商店街の軒先に並び、日が暮れると一斉に灯がともります。大きな花火や太鼓のような派手さはありませんが、小さな明かりが夜の通りを優しく照らす光景は、山里の夏の風物詩として地域に長く親しまれています。家族でゆっくり歩きながら、一つひとつのあんどんに込められた手作りの温もりを感じてみてください。
Tips
会場周辺の駐車スペースは限られるため、公共交通機関か少し離れた場所への駐車がおすすめです。夜は照明が控えめな箇所もあるので、足元に注意して歩きましょう。

About 10 minutes by car from Surisawa Station. Since there are slopes in the park, wear comfortable walking shoes.
Best time to visit
Approximately 45 minutes. As evening approaches, the tree shade becomes increasingly pleasant.
