A history museum built on the moat of Matsue Castle, which introduces the founding of the Matsue Domain and the development of the castle town in an easy-to-understand way, using models and videos. In front of the museum, you can watch the Horikawa Tour boats passing by, allowing you to experience the unique waterside scenery of Matsue. A cafe is also on the premises, convenient for taking a break during your tour.

とうろう流しは、宍道湖と中海を結ぶ大橋川の流れを舞台に、松江大橋周辺・白潟公園で行われるお盆の伝統行事です。2026年は8月16日に開催され、先祖の霊を送るために灯りをともした灯籠が次々と川面に浮かべられ、暗くなった川をゆらゆらと流れていきます。国宝・松江城や水の都・松江の風景と重なり合う幻想的な光景は、夏の終わりを静かに感じさせてくれる、家族で心に残るひとときになります。

Tips

橋の上や川沿いは夜になると混雑するため、早めの場所取りがおすすめです。荒天時の開催可否は主催者の発表を確認してください。

Tips

About a 5-minute walk from the Lafcadio Hearn Memorial Hall. Admission fee is required. If you'd like to take the Horikawa Tour boat, you can use the nearby boarding pier.
