Early dinner of conger rice and grilled oysters, snacking on maple leaf cakes at Omotesando Shopping Street

About this spot

The busiest thoroughfare on Miyajima, lined with souvenir shops and restaurants, running from Miyajima Pier to Itsukushima Shrine. You can enjoy street food specialties like conger rice, grilled oysters, and fried maple leaf cakes, making it the perfect place for an early dinner before the evening Kangen Festival. The street becomes extremely crowded in the evening during the festival, so finishing your meal and souvenir shopping while it's still light makes for a much more comfortable festival experience afterward. Simply walking through the wooden townhouses lining the street offers a taste of Miyajima's charm.

Name:

Date & time: 7/30 (Thu) 15:00–23:00頃

Venue:

Tips

Tips

On Kangen Festival day, the street becomes extremely crowded from evening onward. It's wise to finish dinner by around 3 PM. Popular conger rice restaurants often have lines, so arriving a bit earlier is recommended.

Best time to visit

Approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. Early afternoon before the festival intensifies is relatively smooth.
