An Awa Odori Dance Competition held town-wide in the Sadamitsu district of Tsurugi Town at the foot of Mount Tsurugi. From 7 PM to 9:30 PM on August 15-16, local dance groups gather at the venue around the central shopping street and Former Nagai Family Manor House, performing their dances to the sounds of bells and drums. With the historic manor house and two-tier udatsu townscape in the background, the sight of the dances unfolding is filled with the emotion unique to this town. Unlike large-scale Awa Odori in urban areas, this friendly, intimate festival offers close interaction with local people.
