A roadside station at the gateway to the Tochio district, lined with fresh local vegetables and regional specialties. Tochio is nationally known as the home of 'Tochio no Aburaage,' fried tofu. Larger and thicker than the palm of your hand, this fried tofu has a distinctive texture—crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside—and locals typically eat it as-is with soy sauce and condiments. Enjoying it as a light snack during your break lets you experience this region's unique food culture firsthand. It's also a great spot to look for souvenirs.
Tips
The way the fried tofu is grilled and served varies by shop. It can get crowded at certain times, so allow yourself plenty of time when stopping by.
