Enjoy a Break While Tasting the Specialty 'Tochio Abura-age'
About this spot
A roadside station at the entrance to Tochio district, where fresh local vegetables and local specialties are displayed. Tochio is nationally famous for its 'Tochio abura-age' (deep-fried tofu), a local specialty. The thick abura-age, larger than a palm, has a unique texture—crispy outside and fluffy inside. The local way to enjoy it is to eat it as-is with soy sauce and condiments. Taking a break here to taste this local dish allows you to experience the food culture unique to this region. It's also a perfect place to look for souvenirs.
