A park in Rengeji, Nagaoka City, spreading out at the foot of the 'Great Cedar of Rengeji,' a prefectural natural monument. This great cedar stands within the grounds of Shichisha-gu Shrine, and is a giant tree about 50 meters tall, with a girth of 8.85 meters, estimated to be about 1,300 years old. The park has a children's plaza with playground equipment, a barbecue area, and a pavilion, letting you relax amid the greenery. Even under the summer sun, standing in the tree's shade brings a refreshingly cool feeling, offering the kind of quiet time unique to a mountain village. It's also a great spot for nature observation, letting you and your children experience the tree's scale firsthand.
