A free museum at the base of the climb to the Kasugayama Castle ruins, introducing the full scope of Kasugayama Castle—said to be one of the largest mountain castles of the Sengoku period—through dioramas and video footage. It also features extensive panel displays on the castle's structure, which fortified an entire rugged mountain, and on the life of Uesugi Kenshin, making it a perfect place to prepare before walking the historic site. The building is air-conditioned, making it a handy place to cool off from the summer heat as well. With plenty of explanations aimed at children, it's a facility the whole family can enjoy learning from together.

Tips

Admission is free. A parking lot is attached, making it convenient to visit by car. Taking in the full exhibit gives you a clearer picture of Kasugayama Castle as a whole, which makes touring the historic site afterward much easier to follow.

Best time to visit

About 45 minutes. Stopping by early in the afternoon leaves you more time for the rest of the itinerary
