Tokamachi City Museum, inscribed with 'Snow, Jomon, and Textiles,' is a precious facility where you can see up close the Jomon-era flame-shaped dogū designated as a National Treasure. The boldly shaped pottery, with its flaming appearance, is an iconic National Treasure featured in textbooks, and seeing the real artifact is far more powerful than any photograph. The museum also displays exhibitions on Tokamachi's snow-country culture and the history of its textile crafts that flourished as a center of kimono production.
