Located adjacent to Toshogu Shrine, this ancient temple has been central to Mt. Nikko's mountain faith tradition. The main hall, Sanbusuo-do, houses three gilded Buddha statues and is known as the largest wooden structure on Mt. Nikko. Unlike Toshogu's splendor, the serene atmosphere of this temple grounds allows you to experience Nikko's unique blend of Buddhism and Shintoism.

2026年の日光和楽踊りは8月7日、19時から21時まで、日光市清滝町の古河電気工業(株)日光事業所を会場に開催されます。かつて銅山とともに発展したこの地域で、地元の人々が長く受け継いできた盆踊りで、山々に囲まれた清滝の地に灯りがともり、地域の一体感が感じられる夜になります。日中に世界遺産の社寺群や渓谷を巡ってきた一日の締めくくりとして、歴史ある社寺とはまた違う、地域に根付いた夏祭りの温かさを味わえます。
Tips
会場は市街地からやや離れた清滝地区にあります。車での来場や事前のアクセス確認がおすすめです。夜の山あいは冷えることがあるので、羽織るものを用意しておきましょう。
Tips
Admission fee is required. Check at the window for combination tickets with Toshogu Shrine. The extensive grounds make comfortable shoes recommended.
Best time to visit
Allow approximately 40 minutes. It flows naturally from visiting Toshogu Shrine.
