About this spot

A park built on the former site of Otawara Castle (大田原城), once the residence of the Otawara clan. Earthworks and dry moats remaining from the castle can still be seen today, letting you feel the history of this area, which flourished as a castle town, as you walk through the lush green grounds. There are also open spaces and playground equipment, with room set aside for children to play, making it a place where you can combine a historical stroll with a rest.

Tips

Admission is free. The grounds have many trees, so it's relatively comfortable even in summer, but don't forget to stay hydrated.

Best time to visit

About 40 minutes. The afternoon is recommended, when the shade of the trees feels pleasant.
