A magnificent waterfall on the Naka River, plunging with thunderous force
About this spot
A spectacular waterfall approximately 20 meters high on the main channel of the Naka River. The sight of white water cascading powerfully over the entire width of the rocky riverbed is breathtaking and ranks as one of the most scenic spots in Nasu Karasuyama City. From the bridge overlooking the falls and from the riverside walking paths, you can experience its roaring sound and refreshing spray up close. On hot summer days, this is the perfect spot to find relief from the heat. Fish ladders have also been installed nearby to help aid ayu spawning.

那須烏山市三箇の松原寺境内で受け継がれてきた、地域に根づいた夏の伝統行事です。2026年は8月30日に開催予定。境内には五穀豊穣や無病息災の願いが込められた色鮮やかな造り物や飾りが立てられ、ちょうちんの明かりに照らされる夜の境内は、都市部の大きな祭りとはひと味違う、里山ならではの素朴で温かい雰囲気に包まれます。地元の人々が大切に守り続けてきた行事に触れる、家族での特別な夜になるはずです。
Tips
松原寺周辺は道幅が狭い箇所があるため、駐車場の案内に従ってゆっくり運転しましょう。開催時間は年により変動することがあるため、当日は地域の掲示や案内を確認するのが確実です。夜は虫が多くなるため、虫よけ対策をお忘れなく。
Tips
The falls are just a few minutes' walk from the parking area. On windy days on the bridge, be cautious not to lose your hat or parasol. Rock surfaces can be slippery, so wear sturdy walking shoes when approaching the water's edge.
Best time to visit
Approximately 45 minutes. During summer, high water levels create an impressive, powerful waterfall display.
