A Giant Torch's Flame Rising on the Mountain Slope on the Obon Night
About this spot
A traditional event in which a torch is lit on the middle slope of Mount Kiyotaki in Maibara during Obon. For 2026, lighting is scheduled for around 4:30 PM on August 15th. From the settlements at the foot of the mountain, the flames rising in the dusk are clearly visible, and it is said to have meaning as a send-off fire for ancestors' spirits.
