The summer festival in full swing with food stalls. Grand finale with fireworks lighting the night sky
About this spot
A local summer tradition held at 'Kusazakura Onsen Tensui' adjacent to Otema Hot Spring, connected to Natsume Soseki. In 2026, the festival is held on August 1st with no fixed time, though the peak crowds are from 7 PM to around 9 PM. Food stalls line the shrine grounds and plaza, offering food-stall snacks for dinner. As the sun sets and lanterns light up, the venue suddenly comes alive with families in yukata and locals, culminating in fireworks illuminating the night sky. A cool and tranquil summer festival evening reflecting the hot spring town overlooking Ariake Bay.
