Kitakyushu Airport, which has a runway built offshore, offers a free observation deck. Watching planes take off and land up close is a powerful sight that captivates even children who aren't particularly interested in airplanes. The terminal also has shops and rest areas, and being able to cool off in the air-conditioned building is a welcome point in the summer.

It's convenient to travel by car from Tokakuji Temple. Timing your visit with the flight schedule makes it easier to catch a takeoff or landing.
