About this spot

A brackish lake surrounded by sandbanks connecting to the Pacific Ocean. Its calm waters and pine groves form a scenic landscape selected as one of Japan's Hundred Scenic Views. A walking path along the shore allows for leisurely strolls while enjoying the sea breeze. Near the fishing port, visitors can feel Soma's maritime life alongside local fisheries. After exploring castle ruins and shrines, stopping here lets you experience both the mountainside and seaside faces of Soma.

Tips

Parking areas are scattered throughout the vicinity. In summer, there is little shade, so bring a hat and drinks. The viewpoint offers excellent views of the lake and pine groves.

Best time to visit

Approximately 55 minutes. As evening approaches, softer sunlight makes the walk more enjoyable.
