About this spot

A museum introducing the history of the Joban Coal Field that Iwaki City developed and precious fossils discovered in this region. The museum features moving, life-sized dinosaur robots and impressive fossil specimens that captivate children with the world of dinosaurs and Earth's history. There are also exhibits recreating old mine shafts, allowing you to learn another facet of Iwaki's history different from Hakusuizu Amidado Hall. The museum is air-conditioned and comfortable to visit from the early morning.

いわき駅前の平商店街を舞台に、2026年8月6日(木)から8日(土)まで朝10時から夜21時まで開かれる七夕まつりです。商店街のアーケードには大きな七夕飾りが飾りつけられ、通りを歩くだけでも夏らしい華やかな雰囲気を味わえます。屋台や露店も並び、日中から夜まで長い時間ゆったりと楽しめるのが特徴です。日が暮れて明かりが灯ると、飾りの色合いがより一層引き立ち、いわきの夏を象徴する風景が広がります。

Tips

会場内の屋台で昼食・夕食を済ませられるので、朝は身軽に行動できます。駐車場は周辺の商業施設と兼用になることが多いため、公共交通機関の利用も便利です。夕方以降は人出が増えるため、ベビーカーは移動しやすい時間帯を選ぶと安心です。
