Designated as Japan's Important Intangible Folk Culture Property and counted among Japan's three greatest bon dances, this historic dance gathering takes place for three days from August 21-23, 2026, along Hon-machi Street in Kemamainai. Characteristic of this bon dance, most dancers wear hats or head coverings that conceal their identity. Two pieces accompany the dancers—the slow, graceful "Daino-saka" and the spirited "Jinku"—as dancers in circles sway gently through the night. Anyone can join the circles to dance, and experiencing it firsthand reveals depths not visible from the sidelines alone. Among the three days, the opening night draws fewer crowds, making it ideal for families to appreciate the full atmosphere at leisure.
