A rare Neputa festival for the region, which began through sister-city exchange between Ojima (when it was Ojima Town) and Hirosaki City in Aomori Prefecture. In 2026, held over two days (August 14-15), this festival features towering fan-shaped and lantern-type Neputa decorated with warrior paintings, ranging several meters high, parading down Ojima Shopping Street's main avenue with the spirited chant of "Yā-Yā-Dō!" The sounds of taiko drums and flutes fill the street, and the brilliant illumination and painted imagery of the lanterns create an overwhelming spectacle. Food stalls line Ojima Shopping Street's main avenue, allowing visitors to enjoy street food while watching the Neputa procession—one of this festival's greatest charms.

From 17:00 onwards. From 19:00 and later, when the lanterns are fully lit and darkness falls, offers the most spectacular viewing.
