On festival day, the area around the station swells; dining early here ensures a smooth transition to the festivities.

つくばエクスプレスつくば駅周辺を舞台に、2026年は8月22日(土)・23日(日)の2日間にわたって開催される「まつりつくば」です。このコースでは初日である8月22日の祭りの熱気を主役に据えています。17時から20時30分にかけて、駅前の広場や周辺の道路がパレードや踊りでにぎわい、科学都市として知られるつくばの街並みが一気に祭り一色に染まります。昼間に訪れたつくばエキスポセンターや植物園の落ち着いた雰囲気との対比も、この1日ならではの楽しみ方です。
Tips
祭り当日は駅周辺が大規模な交通規制となり、大変混雑します。公共交通機関の利用が安心です。屋台の出店状況は年により変わるため、夕食はイーアスつくばで済ませておくと安心です。小さな子ども連れは、人出が増える夕方以降ははぐれないよう注意してください。
Tips
By car from Dohoune Park is convenient. Festival day evenings are crowded; arriving earlier is safer. Restroom breaks here ease movement at the festival grounds.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour. Mid-to-late afternoon (around 3:30 PM) is relatively calm.
