This shopping street runs straight from the west exit of JR Ishioka Station into the city center of Ishioka, which flourished as the shrine town in front of Hitachi-no-Kuni Sousha-gu. In the morning hours just before the festival gets underway, there are few people about, and you can take your time watching the town in a calm mood as it waits for the festival to begin. Walking this very street beforehand — the one the festival procession will later pass through — lets you feel more deeply how its energy changes from daytime into night.
Tips
It's within walking distance of the Jinya-mon Gate. On the day of the festival, traffic restrictions may begin from the morning, so it's recommended to walk here early.
