Nakaminato Reverberatory Furnace Ruins (那珂湊反射炉跡)

Flow of the course

About this spot

The ruins of a reverberatory furnace for casting cannons, built by the Mito Domain in the late Edo period for coastal defense. A reconstructed chimney from that era still stands, telling the story of how Hitachinaka, a port town, played an important role in late Edo period history. As an outdoor historical site with a compact area, it's easy to visit even for a short time. This is a deeply meaningful spot where you can experience the history walked by the port town of Nakaminato, which is the stage for the festival.

Tips

It's convenient to drive from Sakatsutsu Isomae Shrine. As it's an outdoor historical site, don't forget sun protection during summer.

Best time to visit
