About this spot
Many earthen warehouse buildings with namako-style plaster walls remain on this street in the Matsumoto district, which flourished as a merchant town since the Edo period. Former sake breweries and kimono shops have been renovated into cafes and miscellaneous goods shops, allowing you to shop and rest in a calm atmosphere unique to a warehouse town. This is a walking course where you can directly experience the history of Matsumoto's development as a castle town and merchant town.

松本駅から松本城周辺にかけての中心市街地を舞台に開かれる「夏まつり松本ぼんぼん」です。2026年は8月1日(土)17時30分から19時18分にかけて開催され、市民有志や企業、学校など数多くの踊り連が「ぼんぼん、ぼんぼこぼん」の掛け声とともに市街地を踊り歩きます。誰でも自由に踊りの輪に加わることができるのが松本ぼんぼんの魅力で、観光客も気軽に参加できる開放的な雰囲気が特徴です。このコースでは、昼間に城下町の見どころを巡ったあと、夕方からその同じ通りが踊りの熱気に包まれる様子を体感するという流れにしています。

開催時間中は松本駅から松本城にかけての一帯で交通規制が敷かれます。公共交通機関の利用が安心です。踊りの輪に加わりたい場合は、当日の案内看板や係員の指示に従いましょう。

It is within walking distance from Nawate Street. Be aware that shops converted from warehouses may have steps inside, so it is wise to check in advance if you have a stroller.
