About this spot
Various restaurants reflecting the lakeside town character are scattered around JR Okaya Station. It's conveniently located within walking distance of Ilf Plaza, the festival venue, making it ideal for having an early dinner before the evening's main event. On festival day, the station area is more lively than usual, and you may even hear distant drum sounds beginning to echo.

岡谷市のイルフプラザ広場周辺を舞台に開かれる「岡谷太鼓まつり」です。2026年は8月13日(木)・14日(金)の2日間にわたって開催され、地域の太鼓連や子どもたちによる演奏が広場に響き渡る、岡谷の夏を締めくくる一大イベントです。大小さまざまな太鼓が息を合わせて打ち鳴らされる様子は迫力満点で、周辺には屋台も並び家族連れで賑わいます。このコースでは、昼間に諏訪湖畔や岡谷の歴史を巡ったあと、夜は太鼓の轟きに包まれる本番を楽しむ流れにしています。
Tips
まつり当日は会場周辺が混雑し、車両の乗り入れが規制される場合があります。公共交通機関の利用が安心です。太鼓の音が非常に大きいため、小さな子どもは驚くことがあるので、様子を見ながら距離を調整しましょう。
Tips
Accessible by car or on foot from Kosaka Kannon Temple. Since crowds increase in the evening on festival day, coming early is recommended.
Best time to visit
Approximately 45 minutes. Mid-afternoon (around 4 PM) before the festival begins at 5 PM is relatively calm.
