One of the three shrines that forms the centerpiece of the Sansha Grand Festival. During the festival, it serves as the starting point for the sacred palanquin processions (departures and returns). Located in the city center, the quiet grounds allow visitors to anticipate the upcoming festival while worshiping. This is a place where you can feel that the Sansha Grand Festival is rooted in sacred rituals, not merely a float parade.

2026年は7月31日から8月4日まで開催される、国の重要無形民俗文化財にも指定された東北屈指の夏祭りです。おがみ神社をはじめとする三つの神社の神輿渡御に合わせて、氏子各町内が趣向を凝らした豪華な山車を繰り出し、からくり仕掛けで動く人形や迫力ある造形が観客を沸かせます。笛・太鼓・手振り鉦によるお囃子に乗って山車が練り歩く様子は、街全体が一体となって作り上げる夏の一大絵巻です。
Tips
中心街は開始前から大勢の見物客で賑わうため、良い場所で見たいなら16時台から沿道に着いておくと安心です。周辺道路は通行規制がかかるので、公共交通機関の利用がおすすめです。ベビーカーの場合は後方や広い交差点付近が見やすいです。

About 10 minutes by car from Chojasan Shinra Shrine. Located in the city center, making it easily accessible on foot. The area may become crowded during the festival period.
Best time to visit
About 35 minutes. It's recommended to visit during the calm period before the main festival events.
