This town-wide summer festival is held across the center of Kaneyama Town from August 14 to 16. On the first day, the 14th, the Yoimatsuri (Eve Festival) takes place, with a float parade from 18:30 to 21:00 as floats wind through the town (canceled in case of rain). On the 15th, the main festival includes a portable shrine (mikoshi) procession (8:30-11:00) and floats touring the town (9:00-16:00), and on the 16th, a cooling-off fireworks display (19:30-20:30) is held at Kaneyama River Riverside Park. Centered around the town hall, which hosts the float competition, the nighttime scenery where the floats overlap with the white-walled storehouse townscape shows a completely different face from the streets you walked during the day.

Tips

On the first day, the 14th, the Yoimatsuri float parade is the nighttime highlight. The area around the venue gets crowded at night, so if driving, it's a good idea to check parking locations in advance. The float parade is canceled in case of rain, and the fireworks display on the 16th may be postponed to August 18 if it rains. Insect repellent is also recommended for a more comfortable visit.

Best time to visit

The highlight is from 18:30 to 21:00, when the Yoimatsuri float parade takes place.
