Next stop: The first night of the summer festival, with the Yoimatsuri float parade winding through townAbout this spot
This waterside park was built near Kaneyama Town Hall, adjacent to the Oze (大堰), an irrigation canal that is also a symbol of the town. This canal was built over seven years in the late Showa era (1970s-80s) using stone for its bed and sides. Nishikigoi (ornamental carp) have been released here since 1981, and the park's charm lies in being able to watch them swim gracefully through the clear water up close. The park also has a rest area, making it a good spot to take a break before heading to the festival grounds.
Tips
Within walking distance of Kaneyama Oze, and parking at the town hall can also be used. Watch your step along the canal. In the evening, the cool breeze feels pleasant, making it a great spot for a pre-festival stroll.
Best time to visit
About 40 minutes. In the evening, the sunlight softens, making it a pleasant time to walk by the water.
