10:00 Start - UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Hayachikune Kagura Annual Festival
About this spot
The annual festival of Hayachikune Shrine, which has a long history backed by worship of Mt. Hayachikune, will be held from 10:00 to 16:00 on August 1, 2026. The Hayachikune Kagura, which is descended from the Yamabushi Kagura tradition and is presented with strength and solemnity, is also registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. The Kagura performed to the accompaniment of drums and flutes offers a variety of performances, from powerful to elegant, and the sound echoing through the quiet mountain shrine grounds carries a different kind of solemn grandeur than urban festivals. A precious opportunity for families to spend the day touching the depth of faith and performing arts that live at the foot of the sacred peak.
