Tsu Castle Ruins (津城跡)

Flow of the course

About this spot

The Tsu Castle Ruins (津城跡) are the remains of a castle extensively rebuilt by Todo Takatora, known as the lord of the Tsu domain, and today the site is loved by locals as Oshiro Park. The main keep no longer stands, but sections of stone walls and moats still evoke the old days, and an equestrian statue of Todo Takatora stands within the grounds. The spacious park has plenty of trees and is just the right size for a walk during the cool morning hours. It is a spot where you can enjoy a little history and some light exercise to start the day.

Tips

It is within walking distance of Tsu Station and has well-equipped parking. In summer, visiting in the morning before the sunlight grows strong is most comfortable. The park is mainly paved, making it easy to walk with a stroller.

Best time to visit

About 45 minutes. The cool morning hours are recommended for an unhurried stroll
