The Kotesashigahara Old Battlefield Site (小手指ヶ原古戦場跡) is a historic place where Nitta Yoshisada and the forces of the Kamakura shogunate are said to have fought fiercely during the Nanbokucho period. Today an open grassland spreads out here, with a stone monument standing to quietly recall the past. Even children who know little about history can enjoy simply walking through the wide-open scenery. It is just the right amount of time for a stroll with a touch of history before heading to the pool.
Tips
It is an open place with little to block the sun, so prepare a hat and sunscreen. There are information boards, so reading the historical explanations as you walk deepens your understanding.
Best time to visit
About 45 minutes. The morning, before the sun gets strong, is most comfortable
