Observe freshwater fish living in an unusual underground setting

About this spot

Oasa Roman Underground Aquarium (大朝ロマン地下水族館) is a unique aquarium in Oasa, Kitahiroshima Town. Tanks are lined up in a space resembling an underground mine tunnel, where you can observe a variety of creatures, mainly freshwater fish living in the Gono River (江の川) water system. It is an indoor spot where you can forget the heat above ground and stay cool, and the unusual display style captures children's curiosity. It is just the right break between the historical stroll and river play, a facility full of satoyama-style discoveries.
