About this spot

Irago Cape Lighthouse (伊良湖岬灯台) is a white lighthouse standing at the very tip of the Atsumi Peninsula. It is known for its fine views over the waters where the Pacific Ocean meets Mikawa Bay, and in good weather you can see as far as the mountains of Ise-Shima. A walking path is laid out around the lighthouse, so the family can stroll at leisure while feeling the sea breeze. At the start of the day, it is a spot for enjoying the majestic sea scenery typical of the Atsumi Peninsula.

Tips

From the car park to the lighthouse you walk up a gentle slope. It is by the sea and the wind can be strong on some days, so take care that your hat is not blown away. The morning is relatively quiet and allows an unhurried visit.

Best time to visit

About 45 minutes. The morning, when the air is clear, offers the longest views.
