Next stop: Worship at a venerable shrine wrapped in deep forestAbout this spot
Kasadera Kannon (笠寺観音) is formally called Ryufukuji (笠覆寺), a famous old temple long established in Minami Ward. Counted among the Tokai Thirty-Three Kannon, it has been cherished by local people for many years. The precincts are quiet and surrounded by trees, and simply taking your time viewing the temple gate and main hall settles the mind. It is perfect for spending a calmer stretch of time before playing energetically at the pool. Talking with the family about the temple's origins while looking at the historic buildings is also recommended.
Tips
It is within walking distance of Meitetsu Motokasadera Station, making it easy to reach. Much of the precincts is paved and easy to get around with a stroller, but there are steps too, so hold small children's hands while walking.
Best time to visit
About 40 to 50 minutes. Visiting in the cool morning hours is recommended.
